Big Screen Countdown Timer
Ready timer
Set a countdown fast, project it in large high-contrast numerals, and share preset timer links for classrooms, workshops, meetings, and focus sessions.
How to use the countdown timer
- Set hours, minutes, and seconds, or choose a preset duration.
- Add an optional session label so viewers know what the countdown is for.
- Press Start, then Pause, Resume, or Reset as the session changes.
Preset timer durations
The presets cover common classroom transitions, meeting breaks, workshop activities, and focus sessions: 1, 5, 10, 15, 25, 30, and 60 minutes.
Fullscreen and projector mode
Large-display mode enlarges the countdown, reduces visual clutter, and requests browser fullscreen when it is available. If fullscreen is blocked, the timer still switches into a high-contrast projection layout.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this as a classroom countdown timer?
Yes. The timer is designed for classroom displays and projectors, with large numerals, preset durations, a session label, pause and reset controls, and an optional sound alert.
Does fullscreen mode work on every browser?
The large-display mode always enlarges the countdown. When the browser allows the Fullscreen API, it also enters fullscreen. If permission is blocked, the readable projection layout still works in the page.
Will the sound alert play automatically?
Sound is optional and starts only after a user interaction, which matches browser audio rules. If audio is blocked, the visual Time's up state still appears without interrupting the timer.
Can I share a preconfigured countdown?
Yes. Duration, label, theme, sound preference, and large-display mode are stored in the URL query string, so you can copy the link for a class, meeting, or workshop.
Does the timer keep running if the tab loses focus?
The countdown is based on a target end time instead of blind one-second decrements, so it corrects itself when the browser slows background tabs.
